Mohamed Nassereldine Meets Russian Deputy Foreign Minister to Strengthen Lebanese–Russian Relations

Mohamed Nassereldine, President of the Russian–Lebanese Cooperation Office “Roslivan” and President of the Center for International Cooperation with the Middle East and North Africa “CIEC-MENA,” met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.

The meeting focused on Lebanese–Russian relations and ways to activate, develop and expand cooperation between the two countries across various fields.

The discussions addressed the importance of Lebanon benefiting from Russia’s network of relations with countries across the region, which could contribute to supporting Lebanon in a number of important and pressing issues.

Particular attention was also given to strengthening economic cooperation between Lebanon and Russia and developing practical opportunities that serve the interests of both countries.

The two sides discussed the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, in light of developments surrounding its mandate. The Russian side reaffirmed its support for Lebanon and for the continuation of the international force’s mission.

Borisenko reaffirmed Russia’s support for Lebanon in international forums and stressed Moscow’s position in favor of Lebanon’s unity and territorial integrity.

He also expressed Russia’s readiness to assist Lebanon in various political, economic and other areas and to continue developing bilateral relations between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Nassereldine thanked Borisenko for Russia’s support for Lebanon and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would continue to develop and expand in the future in a way that serves their mutual interests.
